✦ For Actors, Artists & Performers — Mumbai

Your Smile Is Your Most Important Instrument

Casting directors notice your eyes. Then they notice your teeth. In the era of 4K cameras and OTT close-ups, your smile has to work as hard as you do. Dr. Jignesh Mehta has been creating camera-ready smiles for Mumbai's film industry since 1997.

What 4K Cameras See That Mirrors Don't

Your Mirror Lies to You

A bathroom mirror, seen straight-on at arm's length under warm household light, flatters your smile. A 4K camera does not. Under tungsten or LED studio lighting, slight discolouration reads as visibly stained. Minor crowding looks more severe. A single tooth that is 2mm shorter than its neighbours becomes obvious in a close-up.

OTT platforms — Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar — are now delivering content in 4K and HDR. Every close-up is rendered at a resolution that captures pores, eyelashes, and individual tooth textures. What was acceptable on SD broadcast 10 years ago is no longer acceptable on a 4K streaming frame.

Dr. Mehta works with actors to design smiles that perform correctly under studio conditions — not just in a mirror — using digital smile design technology and porcelain that handles light the way natural enamel does.

What Casting Directors and Directors of Photography Notice

In workshops conducted with Mumbai DPs and casting directors, the consistent feedback about actors' teeth focuses on three things: colour consistency across all visible teeth, the ratio of tooth size to face size in frame, and the behaviour of the smile under key lighting (whether teeth reflect harshly or absorb light naturally).

Bright white veneers done incorrectly create harsh reflections under key lights. Veneers done well — with the correct translucency profile — enhance the face without drawing attention to the teeth themselves.

Our clinic is located in Vile Parle West — 10 minutes from Film City via the Western Express Highway, and close to the Juhu and Andheri industry corridor. Actors from acting schools in Andheri and established artists from Juhu and Bandra are part of our regular clientele.

Treatments Designed for the Film Industry

Every procedure is chosen and calibrated for how it performs on camera, not just in person.

01
Most Requested

Porcelain Veneers

Ultra-thin E.max porcelain shells bonded to the front of your teeth. Corrects colour, shape, size, spacing, and minor alignment — without braces, without waiting months. The gold standard for film industry smile work worldwide. Lasts 10–15+ years.

Timeline: 5–7 days from first appointment to final fitting.

02
Before Every Shoot

Professional Whitening

In-office whitening achieves 6–10 shades brighter in a single 2-hour session. The result is immediate, even, and photo-ready. Used by actors before screen tests, photoshoots, and film launches. Take-home kits maintain the result between shoots.

Timeline: Same-day result. No recovery time.

03
See It Before It's Done

Digital Smile Design

Using photographs and digital design software, Dr. Mehta creates a precise preview of your new smile before any treatment begins. You approve the shape, size, and colour. The design is then used as the blueprint for your veneers or composite work.

Timeline: Preview shared within 48 hours of photo submission.

04
Quick Fix

Composite Bonding

Tooth-coloured resin applied and sculpted directly on the tooth to correct chips, small gaps, or uneven edges. Reversible, no drilling required, completed in one visit. Excellent for actors who want a correction without a permanent commitment.

Timeline: Completed same-day. 1–2 hours per tooth.

05
Symmetry on Screen

Gum Contouring

An uneven gumline — where some teeth appear longer than others — reads clearly on camera. Laser gum contouring reshapes the gumline to create even, symmetrical tooth proportions. Often combined with veneers for the complete camera-ready result.

Timeline: Single appointment. Healing: 2–3 days.

06
Long-Term Investment

Clear Aligners

For actors who want to straighten their teeth without visible braces, invisible aligner treatment gradually shifts teeth into alignment over 4–12 months. Removable for auditions, shoots, and events. Results are permanent — and natural-looking on camera.

Timeline: First set of aligners within 2–3 weeks of impressions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Actors

How soon before an audition can I get whitening done?
Professional whitening can be done up to the day before an audition with no issue. There is mild sensitivity for 12–24 hours after treatment — we recommend the day before rather than the morning of. The result lasts 12–18 months with the take-home maintenance kit we provide.
Will veneers look too white or artificial on camera?
Only if they are poorly designed. Veneers that are too opaque or too bright (Shade B1 or Hollywood White without calibration) can create a reflective, artificial look under studio lights. Dr. Mehta selects shades and translucency profiles specifically for on-camera work — typically a natural-bright finish (A1–A2 range with translucent incisal edge) that enhances without looking cosmetic.
I have a shoot in 3 weeks — what is achievable in that time?
In 3 weeks: veneers (5–7 days treatment + healing), composite bonding (same-day), whitening (same-day), gum contouring (1 day procedure + 2 days healing), or a combination. Send us photos today and we will build a specific plan around your shoot date.
I am in acting school — is this too early to invest in my smile?
It depends on your situation. If you have specific issues — discolouration, a chip, a gap, or crowding that affects your confidence at auditions — addressing them now can change how you present from the start of your career. For students, we often recommend beginning with whitening and digital smile design (which is non-invasive) so you can see what is possible before committing to veneers.
Can I eat normally after veneers? I have shoots with food involved.
Yes. Porcelain veneers are bonded securely to your teeth and function exactly like natural teeth. You can eat, drink, and speak normally. For food-heavy shoots, the only recommendation is to avoid extremely hard items (ice, hard sweets) that could chip natural teeth too — the same care you would take with your own teeth.
Does your clinic offer appointments outside standard hours?
Yes. We are open Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Early morning and evening appointments are specifically available for actors and industry professionals with day-call schedules. WhatsApp us and we will find a slot that works around your shooting schedule.
